Nashville Jam & Writers Night Finder is a small, community-supported project. This page explains what information is collected when you use it and why.

What we collect

If you flag an event, report that one is no longer happening, or suggest a new event or feature, we ask for your email address. Aside from that, we don't collect personal information directly. We do use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used — see Third parties below.

How your email is used

Corrections and feature suggestions are emailed directly to the site owner and are not stored anywhere else.

"No longer happening" reports have your email converted into a one-way cryptographic hash before it's stored. This lets us detect duplicate reports for the same event without ever being able to recover your actual email address from what's stored.

Event suggestions have your email encrypted before it's stored, specifically so we can notify you if your suggestion is approved and goes live. It's only decrypted for that one purpose.

Your IP address is temporarily tracked to prevent spam and abuse of these forms, and isn't used for any other purpose.

Third parties

Event locations are geocoded using Mapbox, which also provides the interactive map. Mapbox's own privacy practices govern that interaction; see Mapbox's privacy policy.

We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used — which pages are viewed, roughly where visitors come from, and what device they're on. It sets cookies and collects usage data as described in Google's privacy policy; Google Analytics 4 does not store your full IP address. If you'd rather not be counted, install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
